Video Adjunct:

The combination of lyrics, melody, and sincere singing in Eric Peterson's song, "You Anointed Me," moved me so deeply when I heard him perform it in church that I asked if we could include it as the first song on the music CD that came with the 2nd edition of Spirituality for Dummies. Eric generously agreed, and I was glad to find the song on YouTube so we can include it here as well. This is a very special ode to the divine spirit that anoints us with it's grace: "You anointed me by giving me peace now, you anointed me by giving me by giving me hope."

Video Adjunct:

This eight and a half minute video was filmed soon after singer Michael Jackson's passing in 2009, when his dear friend and composer of his song, "Man in the Mirror," sang the song at Agape Internation Center's church service. The lyrics remind us to look at our shadows in how we respond to the needs of others and this world, and Siedah Garrett's sharing at the beginning points out some of the shadows in a media that was looking for dirt on a great artist after he passed.  "I'm starting with the man in the mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer: If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change."

In this seven-minute video, metaphysician Maneck Anklesaria explains the power of our subconscious mind, and shares some entertaining stories about how its guidance may or may not always manifest for some, even though it is within and available to everyone. "All of us have got the blessings of subconscious self. And time and again it has been proven that all of us have got inner vision, finer senses of knowledge."

Play the four minute chapter, "Enjoy Being You," from the Secrets of Spiritual Happiness audiobook. "You can learn to chuckle away your shortcomings and to find positive interpretations for how your lacks may be helping you to grow, or perhaps for how they may be helping others to grow. You can love being you, just as you are, while still striving to grow into an even greater image of possibility."

Video Adjunct:

In this video, you can play some or all of an hour-long workshop I offered on Halloween evening, titled, "Take off Your Mask," which delves into psychological and spiritual explorations of who we really are. It ends with group singing of Sufi Qawwali that sharply reminds listeners that death will come one day, which seemed appropriate for a Halloween evening presentation. "Strange are the ways of destiny. The great have become small, and the small have become great. The distinguished have become totally obliterated from this world. The earth has swallowed countless youths."

"Harmlessness, absence of anger, truthfulness, renunciation, tranquillity, truth, compassion, uncovetousness, gentleness, boldness, forgiveness, fortitude, purity, absence of hatred, absence of pride -- all these belong to one born for a divine state."
